ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL
BONFIRE NIGHT AND FIREWORKS
DISPLAY
A few months ago, those Chacombe residents - who have been the very fabric of bonfire/fireworks nights in the village for many years - asked other Chacombe residents to step forward and take the reins for future years. Seeing the number of happy faces of the visitors this year and judging by the comments about the resulting bonfire/fireworks night, clearly a number of residents did step forward and did take responsibility for organising this popular event.
The Guy Fawkes competition was won by James Yard with his 'Donald Trump' interpretation. Brilliant!
Village Hall Quiz
We held the Village Hall Quiz on Friday October 18th and what a brilliant evening it was. Thank you to everybody who came along and made it such a success. There was a really happy atmosphere and it was so good to see everybody chatting and laughing. Lots of teams from Chacombe and we were also pleased to see friends from other areas too. Congratulations to Luke and Rachel the winning team - the prize money will be on its way to you soon. Everybody joined in to help clear up at the end which was much appreciated.
It was a fundraising event to raise money for further refurbishments and adaptations in the hall. We are thrilled to announce that the quiz has raised £344.92, so a big thank you to the eleven quiz teams and all those who helped us.
More Details on the hall
May 8th 2025, VE Day 80 Years on....
Chacombe gathered to light a commemorative beacon on Berry Close. As the evening drew in at 9.30pm it became clear that it was a thought- provoking event. Both a moment for celebration and contemplation of current world events. A few words were said by Andrew Taylor, Chair of the PCC and by Rev. Robert Jones. As many Villagers gathered the beacon was lit by Mick Steel, long-time resident and someone who remembers VE Day as a young member of the Home Guard.
It was good to see so many turn out on a chilly, but dry evening. Especially heartening to see a few younger Villagers showing their respect for our history.
Many thanks to Robert, Scott and Andy, the CS&SC crew who put the effort into the organisation of the beacon and to all who attended.
Chacombe Village Hall Facebook Page
Firstly, thank you to Georgia Connor for helping us to creep into the 21st century by setting up a Facebook page for the hall. Please give our page a like on facebook – Chacombe Village Hall. Feel free to leave any comments and suggestions as to improvements and events in the village hall. We want the hall to be used by everybody. We’ve also been doing a lot of work sorting out some repairs including the wall in the car park. The car park is now much tidier and safer. We are in the process of organising two containers to go on the village hall site. This will help both the hall and the Sports and Social Club with storage.
